Billy Timmins was re-elected to the Dáil in May, 2007 and appointed Front Bench Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, September, 2007.

He was previously Front Bench Spokesperson on Defence, October, 2004 and Front Bench Spokesperson on Agriculture and Food, June 2002-October, 2004

Billy was first elected to the Dáil in 1997 when he was appointed Fine Gael spokesperson on Defence and Peace Keeping and Humanitarian Relief a post he held until 2000. He was spokesperson on Housing from June 2000 - Feb 2001. He was deputy spokesperson on Justice and Defence from Feb 2001-June 2002.

Billy is a full-time public representative. Prior to this he was an army officer with the Irish Army, serving in Galway, Donegal and Kilkenny and he also spent time with the United Nations in the Lebanon and Cyprus.

He has a BA Degree in Economics and Legal Science and a Diploma in PR, marketing and advertising, both from University College Galway.
